Teabag hypocrites on parade: Joe Walsh (R-IL)

Joe Walsh (R-IL), a teabag Congressman from Chicago had this to say about President Obama and fiscal responsibility. From the Chicago Sun Times:
“I won’t place one more dollar of debt upon the backs of my kids and grandkids unless we structurally reform the way this town spends money!” Walsh says directly into the camera in his viral video lecturing Obama on the need to get the nation’s finances in order.
And this is what his wife said about Joe Walsh's fiscal responsibility:
"You mean, rotten, deadbeat, sorry, son of a *&^%$. You owe your frickin children $100,000 in child support! Instead of criticizing others about fiscal responsibility, go get a real job and pay for your own kids!"
That wasn't exactly what she said, but you get the idea. From the Times again:
Before getting elected, he had told Laura Walsh that because he was out of work or between jobs, he could not make child support payments. So she was surprised to read in his congressional campaign disclosures that he was earning enough money to loan his campaign $35,000.
Ouch. Discovery in a divorce can be a bitch. According to the article, Walsh had to foreclose on his condo but found the money to take vacations with his new wife and family to Mexico and Italy. He can't seem to hold a job besides as a $176,000 Congressman. He has liens on his campaign. Hasn't paid his staff. He failed to appear in court and lost his license to drive (and vote?).

This guy is a douche bag even for the gop but is about par for teabaggers.  Oh....and he has already raised $600,000 for his next campaign.

Reliant Energy's new 5.4 cent rate and their "Special Terms"

From the Power to Choose website:

Reliant Energy has a month to month rate of 5.4 cents per kWh. Sounds pretty enticing especially for those who switch month to month. I found the fine print listed under "Special Terms" to be interesting:
  • $9.95/month base charge if under 800 kWh. So if you are working hard to conserve, you get charged for it.
  • Customer support over the phone is $5.95 per call 24 hours a day
  • Requires auto deduction and paperless billing
If you are considering going month to month, consier Penny Wise. They do not have the base charge or the cost for customer support, and they are less expensive.

But.....read the fine print. You never really know what you are buying with electricity deregulation.

TX Gov Perry supports Tea Party's $1.6B cut to NASA

It just shows how out of touch Rick Perry is with reality. While he takes every opportunity to blast the Administration (along with Congressman Pete Olson) he forgets to launch his rhetoric at his own tea party. From Cosmos Magazine:
On July 13, the U.S House of Representative's Appropriations Committee approved a bill that will cut NASA's 2012 funding by US$1.6 billion and terminate all funding for the James Webb, which it states: "is billions of dollars over budget and plagued by poor management."
And yet after the historic landing of the last Space Shuttle mission all Perry could do, besides try to find burger flipping jobs for the employees in his ever growing private sector, was to once again, blame the Administration. From ABC News:
In a sharply worded statement issued by the governor of Texas -- the state is home to the Johnson Space Center -- Perry charges that the Obama Administration “continues to lead federal agencies and programs astray, this time forcing NASA away from its original purpose of space exploration, and ignoring its groundbreaking past and enormous future potential.”
Teabaggers of NASA should be wondering which side Rick Perry is on.

Perry's The Response turning into The Regret

Well according to Believe it or Not, Governor Rick Perry will not be speaking at his own event, The Response. From Believe it or Not:

Come August 6, Gov. Rick Perry may be speaking in front of thousands at Houston’s Reliant Stadium, or he may just be sitting in the stands.
Because the lineup for the seven-hour event has not been set, organizers say they cannot confirm if Perry himself will speak at the event.
What does this really mean? It means Rick is getting a bath in the polls on this event. Hanging around with hate mongers disquised as "Christians" doesn't help anyone in the polls and for Rick Perry polls are the only thing that matters at this point. Perry is losing his ass in the polls concerning this god forsaken event and therefore he will slowly back out of it.

Next The Response will be renamed to The Regret.

Jolanda Jones, Jerry Eversole, and the Harris County DA's office

KHOU has reported that Houston City Councilman Jolanda Jone's ethics complaint has been referred to the Harris county District Attorney's office. Based upon the DA's past experience, Jones has absolutely nothing to worry about. From KHOU:
Jones could face criminal charges stemming from last month’s (Office of Inspector General) report that concluded she used city resources to help run her private law firm.
Yea. Right. Does anyone remember Harris County Commissioner Jerry Eversole? His ethics complaint was sent to the DAs office and they did absolutely nothing. Jerry, now under indictment by the FBI, was the subject of an undercover series by KTRK's Wayne Dolcefino for spending his campaign money on personal items. (it is called theft in our books)

He was later fined $75,000 (paid with his donors money) and ordered to return just over $40,000 to his account but the other $122,000 in question was never even considered in the complaint due to a 2 year statue of limitations by the worthless Texas Ethics Commission. A complaint was filed with the Harris County DAs office for theft over $1500 which is a felony.

And the DA passed because the worthless TEC had already slapped his hand. So let's see just what the DAs office will do with City Councilmember Jolanda Jones. If Jones was smart she would file against herself with the TEC to get the same protection provided to Eversole.

Then the DA's office will have another excuse to pass, I think the DA's office has set the bar so low that someone would have to do something real incredibly illegal before they would take action.

Like steal $162,000.

So much for the GOP's "Sanctity of Marriage"

Nothing worse than a hypocrite, but then again, coming from the republican party that claims to fight for the "sanctity of marriage" this should be expected from Texas Congressman Pete Sessions:
"After a great deal of thought and discussion, a decision has been made that my wife and I are separating. I am grateful for many years of marriage, and the blessing of two wonderful sons. I ask for respect for my privacy and for that of my family, and I do not intend to comment any further," Sessions said in a statement issued by his office.
Respect your privacy, my ass. So much for the GOP's  holier than thou "sanctity of marriage" crap. Now he can join Newt Gingrich, Dan Patrick, David Dewhurst and all the other hypocrites on parade.

Update to the Ground Rules for Rick Perry's "The Response"

I a previous post, included below, I listed the ground rules for Rick Perry's Prayapalooza in Reliant Stadium. Here is an update from Reliant Stadium:
  1. Parking really is $15!!!! That is a large amount to pay just to pray.
  2. There will be "limited" concessions. (Remember this is a fasting event) Reliant was Reluctant to give out any more details of the "limited" concessions. I would bet there would be no beer, or peanuts, or hot dogs. (hot dogs are the food of Satan)
  3. NO TAILGATING allowed! What a bunch of kill joys. It is hard enough to pray for 7 *&^damn hours, what's wrong with an outdoor feast in the parking lot afterward?
  4. No Jews, Muslims, no non-Christians still stands.
For all of you 6000 holier than thou hypocrites attending the event in a 71,000 seat venue, I hope you choke on the hot dog and fry in the sun. Other than that, may God Bless (and forgive) you.

Fun with Dick

Eric Dick is running for Houston City Council. Dick is an interesting fellow. Not quite sure what his real motivation is for running, but he is trying to appeal to the voting spectrum, donating to the Harris County republican Party and entering in the Pride Parade, which comes off as pandering. Pandering  usually doesn't work in Houston politics. (usually)

His recent campaign finance report has been the talk of Twitter and Facebook. From Kuff:
He raised $20,620 and had $19,000 in outstanding loans, and also spent $63,695. A huge portion of his report is Schedule G, “Political Expenditures Made From Personal Funds”.
So in short, Dick is about $50,000 in the hole already. I quickly browsed the report, which is neat and seems in order. It is 228 pages long.  3 cover pages, 6 pages for donations, 1 page for loans, 1 page for pledged donations, 7 pages for expenditures, and a whopping 207 pages for expenditures out of his own pocket, most that will never be reimbursed.

This is strange, but not as strange as the Harris County District Clerk, Chris Daniel, who repeatedly lent his campaign money to repay other loans he made to himself, but Dick's is strange nevertheless. I guess he is self financing, much like Daniel.

Well, welcome to city politics Dick!

Ron Paul to drop out of politics

Let's don't kid ourselves about Ron Paul.

Libertarian Congressman Ron Paul has decided to call it quits in politics to retire on his generous government pension, his tax funded health care for life (and family), and his 401K investments. From the Houston Chronicle blog:
Rep. Ron Paul, R-Lake Jackson, announced this morning he will not run for re-election in Congress. Instead, he said, he will focus his energies on a presidential bid for the 2012 election.
With a massive loss in the republican presidential primary looming, Paul will essentially be out of politics. You see, Paul isn't liked enough by republican voters on issues of national security since he has been calling for the end of the two Bush wars for many years. Common sense doesn't run very deep in the republican party so Paul is out of politics as soon as he loses in the primary.

I think that is a win-win for everyone!

Roger Clemens big mistake

I said it once and I'll say it again:
Roger Clemens has been indicted for lying to Congress concerning his use of steroids. That wasn't his major league mistake. His mistake was not lying about Sadaam having weapons of mass destruction. If he had done that instead, Congress would have looked the other way and let him off the hook. Just like George W. Bush.
Clemens was an idiot to testify in front of Congress. He volunteered to testify and if volunteered to lie to Congress, then he shouldn't be surprised to be indicted for it.

If only he had lied about WMDs, Congress would have done absolutely nothing.

Congressman Pete Olson's head stuck up his bible.

Geoff Berg can smell BS all the way to Clear Lake.

Pete Olson, John Culberson, Ted Poe and a bunch of bible thumping, bugged eyed, controversy seeking, hypocrites fabricated a story about religious persecution at the local Veteran Administration’s Cemetery, and Pete Olson fell for it.

The Three Stooges of Congress claimed the VA was banning prayers at the cemetery. Not only is this against the 1st Amendment of the Constitution, but it was also simply not true. Thanks to Geoff Berg's article in the Houston Chronicle, the truth shall set us free:

After filing suit, LI alleged that “Veterans Affairs Bans Mention of God at Funerals for Vets.” That’s just patently false; nobody is going around the cemetery and telling people not to pray.  So the VA responded:
Invoking the name of God or Jesus is not only allowed, it is common at VA National Cemeteries across the country. However, VA’s policy is that VA-sponsored honor guards should not make recitations at commital services unless requested to do so by the deceased’s survivor(s.)
But don't expect this controversy to be over. Never misunderestimate the power of ignorance.
