The racist pigs of the Texas State Senate

Calling a Texas State Senator a racist pig is pretty harsh, but then again, maybe it's time we just say it like it is. From the Chronicle:
AUSTIN — Nine GOP senators in a paid newspaper ad accused a Democratic, Latina colleague of "race baiting" after she contended Gov. Rick Perry and the GOP-led Legislature have an anti-Hispanic agenda.
And/Or DUH! To say that the Voter ID, the sanctuary city bill, or the Debbie Riddle immigration bill is not anti-Hispanic is like saying the KKK isn't cracker barrel white.

A group of white Texas State Senators launched a 1/4 page ad against Senator Leticia Van De Putte of San Antonio claiming her opposition to the cracker barrel bills was "race baiting". This coming from the likes of Senator Chris "drunker than cooter brown" Harris, Senator Jane "I got a free condo" Nelson, and Senator Troy "I might be hiring illegal workers at my pallet company" Fraser. The three Ks of the KKK of the Senate.

Nobody but a bunch of idiots or racists would think the Voter ID bill was anything but racially motivated. These Senators are not idiots. They have cleverly disguising themselves as "Patriots" protecting the sanctity of voting like they claim to protect the sanctity of marriage. What a bunch of horseshit.

One of these days the Hispanics of Texas will get off their ass and go vote for individuals who don't resort to gimmicks or use their race as political fodder. Until then, Texas will be continue to be run by patriotic racist pigs.

Wingnuts call for boycott and ICE raids of Bob Perry Homes

Wingnuts are so full of hot air. They talk big, but do nothing. Case in point, Bob Perry's meddling into their sanctuary bill, which most probably will kill it. Reading through the comments of the story by the Houston Chronicle, wingnuts across the globe, or across North Houston, are calling for a boycott of Perry Homes and a raid by the INS (Now called ICE). Here are a few samples:
What's entertaining on the "boycott" talk is not a single wingnut has said "I wish I had not bought my Bob Perry home." Perry builds upper end homes well outside of the reach of most of the low income wingnuts on these boards. So, a boycott of "I'll never buy what I couldn't afford to buy in the first place" isn't really effective.

well i know where ill never shop again h.e.b. aka little mexico trading village and neither will i buy anything built by perry homes
Time for INS to thoroughly investigate both of these men's businesses. And maybe the IRS get involved also !
Oh where oh where are the Minute Men when we need them? You have to wonder why they haven't thought of setting up surveillance at the work site for new homes being constructed by Bob Perry Homes. If Perry is depending upon this illegal workforce, it would be easy to document and catch them.

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the wingnuts on the Houston Chronicle to do anything. Much like their coward of a leader, Rick Perry, they are all talk and no immigration raid action.

Cowards.

Rethinking generics and Levaquin

First we have to rethink generic drugs, now at least rethink Levaquin. I'm posting this because a friend of a good friend of mine is featured in this PBS news segment. From PBS:
BETTY ANN BOWSER: Forty-six-year-old John Fratti of Hummelstown, Pa., was prescribed Levaquin a few years ago for a minor bacterial infection.
JOHN FRATTI: It caused nerve damage, tendon damage and central nervous system damage. Central nervous system damage is -- is brain damage.
BETTY ANN BOWSER: Before taking Levaquin, Fratti had no major medical problems. But after taking the drug he became disabled.
JOHN FRATTI: I have lost my job. I have lost over a quarter of a million dollars in lost wages. I have spent about $30,000 out of my own pocket in medical and insurance costs, haven't received a dime back for this.

No place but America. Oh...the FDA recently approved a generic form of Levaquin.

GOP top donor, Bob Perry, kills Tea Party's sanctuary bill

The teabaggers hoped that Rick Perry was not just puffing up like a big bird and only talking tough about immigration. They expected action, but didn't realize who runs the Texas GOP, the Texas Legislature, and Rick Perry. Teabaggers, meet Bob Perry who is working to kill your sanctuary bill. From the Houston Chronicle:

AUSTIN — As two of Texas' most politically-involved business leaders emerged as opponents, a bill banning "sanctuary cities" lost crucial momentum Friday, raising the possibility the measure will be killed or substantially weakened before the special session of the Texas Legislature ends Wednesday.
HillCo Partners' lobby team, led by Neal T. "Buddy" Jones, is working on behalf of Houston home builder Bob Perry and San Antonio grocery store magnate Charles Butt to alter a proposal that would permit law enforcement officers to inquire about the immigration status of people they detain, Jones' partner Bill Miller confirmed.
It doesn't surprise me that Bob Perry is protecting his investment in cheap labor and it doesn't surprise me that the teabaggers didn't know this, after all, they were stupid enough to believe in "Death Panels". Perry has a history of voicing his support for undocumented, cheap, labor from south of the border even claiming in an OP-ED to the Dallas Morning News:
But few young Americans want to do hard physical labor, particularly in our climate.

Not only that, but immigrant workers renew and reinvigorate America. They remind us what it's like to give a job your all. We talk about old-fashioned family values; they live them.

These are good people with good values doing work that we need done, reaching for the American Dream and helping make it a reality for all.
Let me break down what Bob Perry and other top gop donors are saying so teabaggers can understand: White folks are lazy and immigrant workers are cheap. So, what are the baggers doing to do now?

Probably nothing.

Teabagging in Space

When you teabag in space, can anyone hear you?

The republican party has released their version of Teabagging in Space. Remember when reading this that these are the same guys who were yelling "Don't touch my Medicare" then voted for the very people in who want to kill Medicare. These are the people who rely on Fox New for their information like the Lie of 2010, the government takeover of health care, or the Lie of 2008, Sarah Palin's "Death Panels". And these guys now want to be rocket scientists?

But, on to their i-deers of space travel. Libertarians should be drooling over this, unless they work for NASA, which in itself is strange but I digress. In a purse bag, the baggers want NASA out of the picture and the private industry with their great knowledge, know how, and a boatload of unrestricted federal money to be the innovators of space travel. Of course, the old tried and it blew ideas of "tax incentives", tax cuts, less regulation, yada-yada, are littered throughout their platform, which they claim is uh.... "non-partisan".
TEA Party in Space (TPIS), is a non-partisan organization dedicated to educating the American people and their elected representatives in applying the core principles of fiscal responsibility, limited government, and free markets to the rapid and permanent expansion of American civilization into the space frontier, focusing on strategies for privatization, deregulation, and appropriate technology development partnerships between government institutions and the private sector.
Blah. Blah. Blah. Blah. non-partisan my ass. They are as non-partisan as members of the KKK.

They criticize the Constellation Program calling it nothing more than "stacks of power point presentations, some pretty CGI videos, and a half-billion-dollar practice rocket" while many of their teabagging members in the JSC area (ClearLakeTeaBaggers.com) were fighting hard to save their power point presentations, their CGI videos, and their practice rockets. It doesn't make sense, but then again, remember these people fell for "Death Panels"!

It is clear that the loons have taken over the republican party's position on NASA. Unfortunately for the loons in the Clear Lake area working the space program, these are not their own loonie ideas.

BTW, this Tea Party in Space Reminds me of Pigs in Space:

Texas nanny state to protect TWIA

Libertarians love to use the phrase "nanny state" to describe the safety nets of the United States such as Medicare, Social Security, and government spending in general, but are pretty silent about the state coming to bail out the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association. (Many libertarians are the first to fight to be first in line for a government handout)

Rick Perry is now threatening another special session to address the needs of his insurance buddies by providing protection from lawsuits. TWIA is the last resort for windstorm insurance. Many (if not all) insurance companies no longer provide windstorm protection and those that do (USAA) have jacked up their rates.

In 2003 Libertarians got their wish with the Republican controlled Legislature dropping the regulations and oversight of the insurance industry to allow for more competition and lower rates. Texas now has the highest rates in the country with the Bay Area having some of the highest. Rates have skyrocketed and coverage has dropped and yet they need more nanny state protection.

TWIA was sued after Hurricane Ike for non payment of claims and they have been under investigation for fraud. (imagine that) So Rick Perry and his insurance spokesman, State Representative Larry Taylor, have decided that more oversight is needed, not on TWIA, but on the attorneys who sued TWIA on behalf of homeowners. See Off the Kuff.

Yep. One man's nanny state is another man's protection. BTW. Larry Taylor is in the Bahamas while Legislators are working on his nanny state bill to protect his buddies.

Wonder who paid for the Bahama trip?

Re-thinking the use of generic drugs

George W. Bush's Supreme Court selections are paying off big time, this time for big pharma. From Reuters:
(Reuters) - The Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that generic drug companies cannot be sued under state law over allegations that they failed to provide adequate label warnings about potential side effects.
Add this to the Wal-Mart case recently decided, and the Citizens United which allows unlimited money from corporations into politics and you will begin to understand just how important the Supreme Court appointments are. And why corporation will spend billions to get even more corporation friendly justices on the bench.

In the meantime, you might want to re-think that generic prescription. CNN had a very disturbing video of Gladys Mensing who developed a severe neurological movement disorder from a generic drug used for acid reflux. I'll post the video once it is on their site.

Bill Maher on Rick Perry's Prayathon

Another something funny about Rick Perry:

Texting while driving ban is vetoed. Insurance industry rejoices!

Whew! That was a close one for the Texas Department of Insurance Industries. From the Austin American Statesman:
Among those was House Bill 242, which would have enacted a statewide ban on texting while driving. At least three cities, including Austin, have already banned such texting, and the state already bans texting in school zones.

Perry said that texting while driving "is reckless and irresponsible" but that he saw the bill as "a government effort to micromanage the behavior of adults."
Perry continued:
"Besides, if we made our road safer with less accidents our insurance rates would have to go down and that will not happen while I am Governor. The insurance industry now has the go ahead to raise their rates to adjust for my little gift to them."
Perry didn't actually say that but he should have. It was rumored that the Texas Department of Insurance Industries had a party when the bill was vetoed. I wonder if they will have a party when one of their kids lose their limbs in an accident caused by a driver that is texting.

After Weiner, will Boehner rise for Vitter's resignation?

Oh the humanity!
Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) broke his silence on the scandal that has much of Washington calling for Senator Vitter's resignation — with just one word. “Yes,” he told reporters when asked outside a conference room in the Cannon House Building whether Vitter should resign.
We can only wish. Now that the Democrats have drawn the line in the sand for unethical behavior, should we expect the Boehner and the republican leadership to call for the resignation of Senator Vitter?  Let's recall Senator "I did her" Vitter sexual perversion:
In early July 2007, Vitter's phone number was included in a published list of phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates, a company owned and run by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, also known as the "D.C. Madam", convicted by the U.S. government for running a prostitution service. Hustler identified the phone number and contacted Vitter's office to ask about his connection to Palfrey.
Vitter got caught being serviced by a $300 whore. Here in Texas it is called prostitution and is illegal. Lucky for Vitter, he was not prosecuted due to the statute of limitations. You see, in republicanville, it isn't illegal if you don't get caught in time. So don't hold your breath waiting for the republican leadership to call for Vitter's resignation.

Boehner just isn't up for it.

Is Rick Perry the second coming?

It is becoming clear. Rick Perry is a prophet sent to Texas to bestow his knowledge and guidance upon the millions of the State. A prophet:
In religion, a prophet is an individual who is claimed to have been contacted by the supernatural or the divine, and serves as an intermediary with humanity, delivering this new found knowledge from the supernatural entity to other people.
Traditionally, prophets are regarded as having a role in society that promotes change due to their messages and actions.
That is Rick Perry, the leader of the Pray-apalooza coming to Houston in Aug. He is the prophet from God that instructed him to tank the Texas economy through tax breaks for the rick and tax gimmicks for the homeowner, resulting in massive deficits. He was instructed by God to then cut services for the elderly, the sick, and the poor, and to demonize those that are not angel white.

Rick Perry believes he has been sent here by God's to bring his word to all of America just like he did to Texas. To many, Rick Perry is Jesus Christ.

Rick Perry doesn't debate.

The 12 candidates who think they can get the Teabag nomination were kidding themselves during last nights cluster debate. Missing from the group of loons was Rick Perry and Rick Perry don't debate, just like Machete don't text:

OMG this just in: Gov Rick Perry is a cheap ass hypocrite!

One of these days God is going to smack the living crap out of this governor. I just hope I am around to watch it happen. From the San Antonio News:
From 2000, when Perry became governor, through 2009, he earned a total of $2.68 million according to his tax records. Of that amount, he gave half a percent to churches and religious organizations, or $14,243. By comparison, Americans averaged gifts of nearly 1.2 percent of their income to churches and religious groups from 2004 to 2008, according to Empty Tomb Inc., an Illinois-based research firm specializing in U.S. church-giving trends.
In the words of Gomer Pyle "Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!". I am so frickin surprised that Perry is what we call a fuckin' hypocrite. If I woke up with my head sewn to the carpet tomorrow morning in a cheap ass hotel in Kendal Texas, I wouldn't be more surprised.

American soldiers forced to waive their rights

Only in America can you get away with a sneaky clause in your contract. This is nothing new. Soldiers "fighting for our Constitution" come home every day and can't exercise the very rights they fought for.

Only in America. From Fox 26:

Weiner in the Bush

It is almost funny how the talk of the town is that Congressman Weiner lied about twittering his weiner resulting in an embarrassment of his party, his family, and his friends. Calls for resignation and investigations are coming from the left and the right.

And yet when President Bush lied about sending our country into an unnecessary war resulting the death of 4400+ American soldiers and costing $1 Trillion not much is made of it at all. Not one investigation. Not one call for resignation. Nothing. Zero. Zip.

Says a lot about our Country.

Texas Gov Rick Perry's day of prayer. (Muslims and Jews not allowed)

From our Governor:

My Dear Texans,

Right now, Texas is in crisis: we have been besieged by financial debt created by a decade of Republican rule and a multitude of natural disasters. As a state, we must come together and call upon Jesus, our lord and savior,  to help us continue to kick in the teeth of the elderly, spit on the sickly kids, and stomp on the poor laying in the gutter.

Some problems are beyond our power to solve, like our teachers who feel entitled to fair pay and a retirement that could afford them a block of government cheese and bottled water. According to the Book of John, Chapter 2, this calls for a historic renewed sense of moral purpose. Therefore, on August 6, thousands will gather to sacrifice my body to god much like those Mexican people down in Mexico did a long time ago.

I sincerely hope you’ll join me in Houston on August 6th and take your place in line to  pray to God that he will smite me with the hand of righteousness and a giant foam baseball bat that will inflict moral indignation upon my hair.

There is hope for Texas and you will find it on our knees much like the republicans have been doing for business in Texas for a decade.

p.s. No Muslims, Jews, Buddists, Atheists, or any other non-christians, including Catholics.

Your Lord and Savior,
Rick Perry.

Amigo Energy's unauthorized automatic deductions

OOPS! From Amigo Energy:
In an effort to better serve our customers, Amigo Energy recently underwent a systems upgrade. During this process, you may have noticed an auto draft charge from our parent company, Fulcrum Power Services, on your bank statement for this billing month. We apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.  Please rest assured that your Amigo Energy account has been credited in full.
I recently wondered what the hell I bought from someone called "Fulcrum" and was about to call the bank till I received an email from Amigo Energy. Funny, I don't have my account registered for automatic deduction.

Last week I was not able to access my account because of computer glitches. Amigo had to accept a payment over the phone, then fixed their computer problems. Now I can access my account, but still never authorized an automatic payment.

I bet there is more coming on this issue.

White Wingers coming to support a Black dude in Houston

Now place but Texas.

Looks like the gop is hoping to capitalize on the black vote for President Barack Obama in 2012 by running a black dude for Sheriff. And to show their support for the Black dude, the Mexican hater and Sheriff from Arizona, Joe Arpaio, is coming for a fundraiser.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the "Toughest Sheriff In America", is coming to Harris County to help support [The Black Dudes] campaign for Sheriff. Children 10 and under are admitted FREE. (No Mexicans, beaners, wetbacks, anchor babies, or terror babies allowed. No Moos-Lims either. And no Blacks. Oh.....wait....)

Enjoy live music, delicious food and a variety of exhibits - Hear from speakers including Sheriff Joe Arpaio, [the Black dude], Michael Berry, Sam Malone and other elected officials.
Looks like all the White Wing Wadio hosts will be in attendance, except for Michael Berry since he will be eagerly in line at the local Marine Recruitment Center so his brave skinny white ass can go fight terrorists around the world.

Mexican food will be served.

Why Sarah Palin will not run for President

What happened to Rick Perry's Mexican bashing bills?

Remember all the talk from the gop about immigrant bashing and passing bills much like the Arizona anti-immigrant bill? Remember the swagger by Rick Perry and the bat crazy Debbie Riddle talking about "terror babies"? So, what happened after the gop was given complete control over Texas government?

Nothing. Not even a sanctuary city bill. From Rick Casey of the Houston Chronicle:
In his state of the state speech in February, Gov. Rick Perry declared, "We must establish criminal penalties for employers who knowingly hire workers who are here in violation of immigration law."
The bill died. Rick Perry and the entire gop just simply wussed out. All talk and nothing else, and the reason shouldn't surprise anyone. The gop is owned by the home builders in this state with Bob Perry, of Bob Perry Homes, calling the shots. Perry didn't want the immigrants to go back home or to be hassled, or to have sanctions or felony charges brought up against him or his buddies for hiring illegal immigrants. I have written about it before:

Besides, according to some of the biggest donors to the republican party such as Bob Perry and Bo Pilgrim, Americans are lazy and incapable of doing hard work. From the Dallas Morning News (link no longer active)

Not only do they think Americans are lazy, they remind us that illegal immigrants are better than most Americans. The people who think they are republicans and put these clowns in complete control of the state got exactly what they deserve on immigration.

Nothing.
