One man. No Woman Dave Wilson attacks again

A couple of years ago Dave Wilson, a right wing, hate monger, attempted to run as a Democrat in the Harris County elections. His application was denied, not because he is a right wing, hate monger, but because he listed his residence as his work address, not his home. There is more....

Wilson is well know in some dark holes under I59 as the protector of the sanctity of marriage, much like Newt Gingrich. And he has gone out of his way to send letters and emails to those who support Mayor Anise Parker with tidbits like:
It is the health, or corruption, of the moral imagination that is the most important factor in determining the future of our city. If we want to save our city we must change the direction of the moral and cultural compass that guides us.
And then in an interview by KHOU

"Is this the image Houston wants to portray?" "I don't see a good family, a Christian family, one man, one woman," Wilson said.
Unfortunately, Dave needs to look within and question his own "moral standards", those that he created and those that do not represent the majority of Houstonians. If you are going to live in a glass house, you shouldn't throw stones. For Dave he lives in his business because he was separated from his wife. So much for his "sanctity of marriage".

I for one can't stand this sanctity of marriage crap especially coming from those on the right who can't practice safe marriage themselves, Dan Patrick, Newt Gingrich, Ronald Reagan, Rush Limbaugh, and Dave Wilson. If you are going to throw rocks, expect to be hit with one.

Hypocrites.

AARP: Texans were screwed by electricity deregulation.

In the and/or duh category. From AARP:
According to the U.S. Department of Energy, Texas ranks 17th among the states for the highest average price of electricity—11.7 cents per kilowatt hour. In 1999, before deregulation, Texas tied with Louisiana for 30th, at 7.1 cents per kilowatt hour.
How is that for "shopping around"? Of course the electricity industry continues to bullshit stupid Texans with the simple minded comments such as:
According to John Fainter Jr., president and CEO of the Association of Electric Companies of Texas, an industry group said "A person who elects to shop can find electricity at a price lower than the last regulated rate,".
And simple minded Texans continue to believe that crap even though they are paying out their ass for electricity. John Fainter is so full of crap his eyes have turned brown. I bet he is paying more for electricity and is getting paid too much to say otherwise, unlike stupid Texans who are paying more and are too damn stupid to admit it.

Enjoy the summer and your electricity bills.

MSNBC's Ed Schultz apologizes for Laura Ingraham "slut" remark.

I've listened to Ed Schultz since his first radio show. Since then he has expanded his show and is now a host on MSNBC. One think about Ed, he is straight forward, and sometimes he is wrong. But unlike others in the business, when he is wrong, he stands up and admits it.

On his show Ed called Laura Ingraham, a right wing, talking, hole in the face, a "slut". Whether you agree that she is a right wing slut and deserves to be called one, isn't up for debate, but the fact that he did it, got him a week without pay but not before he apologized to women, Ingraham, and MSNBC. If Rush, Ingraham, Hannity, or Beck apologized for inappropriate remarks, that is all they would be doing. But don't hold your breath. They are nothing but right wing sluts and the right wing demands inappropriate remarks.

Ed's comments were inappropriate. He deserves a week off, but I applaud him for standing up and admitting his mistake. From Raw Story:

UFC 130 a waste of time, money, and brain cells

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has a pay per view bout every other week. For the last few years they had enough upcoming talent to put on a pretty decent event. It was hard not to shell out $110 a month to watch. But this talent and quality of events began dwindling and ended in a rather dull UFC 130.

The main event had Quintin Rampage Jackson against Matt The Hammer Hamlin. If Rampage had put as much effort into fighting as he did to his entrance and build up to the fight, Hamlin would have been hammered. Instead Rampage took us to the limit with 3 rather boring rounds leaving him drained of energy.

Fat Frank Mir also took 3 rounds of beating up a fat Big Country Nelson who looked content to just lay on the canvas while Mir laid on top of him. Wasn't hard for either of them to do.

The only interesting fight was in the heavy weight division between a very tall fighter and a not so tall fighter, both having the honor of being tied for the least known fighter award. In the second the tall guy walked into a flying punch in a rather brutal KO.

But other than that, UFC 130 was a waste. In the future, know the signs of a bad night of wrassling. Any bout with Rampage Jackson, Big Country Nelson, Frank Mir, Matt Hamlin, Tito Ortiz, or BJ Penn is fair warning. Chuck Liddel could be added to this list, but watching him getting KOed is worth the $55.

Texas Civil Justice League a bunch of *&^damn racist pigs

Wow, the Texas Civil Justice League has reached a new low towards women, even lower than being on their knees servicing the corporations of this state. Maybe they ought to remember that the only reason they are here on this earth is because they have a mother, that is a woman. And she is probably just as embarrassed and mad as State Representative Senfronia Thompson. I have to agree with her, if I had the opportunity, I would kick all of them in the nuts.

She had a great quote on the House floor: "And men, if you don't stand up for us today, don't you walk into this chamber tomorrow." From the Texas Tribune:
Thompson gave an impassioned personal privilege speech over flyers passed out in the House chamber about an insurance bill, HB 2093. The flyer, which was printed by the Texas Civil Justice League, said "Don't Expand the Nanny State," and had a graphic picture of a child suckling a woman's bare breast.

Paul Bettencourt. A loser and a quitter.

The universal sign of a Loser
Paul Bettencourt, once the Harris County Tax Assessor/Collector who quit after being elected to a second term, is now on his way to a trifecta with a recent loss in a frivolous lawsuit against the City of Houston. From the Houston Chronicle:
"This is yet another frivolous lawsuit that has cost taxpayers money at a time when the city can least afford it," Mayor Annise Parker said in a statement issued by her office. "Last fall's ballot language clearly indicated that Prop. 1 was an initiative aimed at fixing Houston's drainage problem. I hope this ruling answers any lingering questions raised about the voters' decision to implement this solution."
The universal sign of a Quitter
Don't expect Quittencourt to give up spending the City's money on more frivolity. An appeal is planned until the right, or ultra-right, court can be found.

Meanwhile, Quittencourt might continue his affair with Wayne Dolcefino making statements that any anti-tax idiot could say about the Port of Houston. "This is the taxpayers money", or "This is not a good way to spend taxpayers money", or this gem "It's not your money!"

"What a loser. And a quitter."

BREAKING NEWS: Texas passes historic legislation!

Finally!
Austin. With a $27 Billion budget shortfall and tens of thousands of educators being laid off the Texas House and Senate has passed wide sweeping legislation affecting millions of Texans throughout the state. According to State Senator Bob Duell "This is one of the most significant bills in the history of the State and I am glad to have sponsored it in the Senate."

The bill which has passed the House and is expected to be signed by the Governor allows the practice of hillbilly fishing, called "noodling". Noodling requires a hillbilly (Texan) to use his fingers as worms, sticking his hands into dark holes in the shore looking for bug eyed catfish. When asked if he noodled, Duell responded with "If it is anything like teabagging, you betcha!"

At the time this was written, we were not sure if Duell actually knew what noodling was, but he was sporting a very fine mullet and a new set of buck teeth.
Who says the Texas Legislature is out of touch with the average mullet wearing, hillbilly, Texan?

A fiscally retarded Texas budget

(Sorry about the use of the word "retarded". Unfortunately it is all I could come up with to describe the so called "fiscally conservative" republicans.

Texas has been under republican rule for over 10 years and it shows it. As George W. Bush did to America, Rick Perry did to Texas resulting in a $27 Billion hole in our budget. And yet the voters in Texas put Perry back in office much like putting a convicted child molester in charge of day care security. I'm not sure who is more brain dead.

The budget, as agreed to last week, will make massive cuts across the board, except for TxDOT in order to fund Perry's new toll roads. For some reason the very same people who caused the problem in the first place are being praised for solving the problem. Much like giving your kid praise for cleaning up his room, when his only job in the house is to clean up his room. From the Texas Tribune:
The details are yet to be released, but Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst praised budget writers for “making a historic $15-billion cut in government spending.” House Speaker Joe Straus called the budget “disciplined” and “fiscally conservative” because it does not raise taxes or spend any additional Rainy Day Funds in the next biennium.
Seriously. It takes a leader to prevent the need for massive cuts to the elderly, sick, and poor. Any idiot can cut a budget. Perry, Dewhurst, and Straus just did.

John Wayne, a real American Hero?

From the Houston Chronicle
John Wayne is getting his face on a Texas Lottery game for Veterans all dressed up like a Green Beret. Wayne made a number of movies dressed up like a United States soldier. Many would probably think Wayne was one of those God fearing, patriotic, republican, real American, when in fact he was really just a real republican.

Wayne never served in the armed forces. While his buddies from Hollywood went to WWII, Wayne stayed home to make movies about his buddies going to WWII. That was the best way for him to serve his country much like Michael Berry of KTRH serving his country by shooting his mouth off behind a microphone instead of shooting a gun behind a wall in Iraq. This is what real republicans do. Act tough. Dress up. Shoot their mouth off.

The Houston Chronicle has more. The Texas Lottery had a number of real American heroes in this State to feature on their lottery tickets supporting veterans. John Wayne is not one of them.

Texas Republicans to return Texas to English rule.

Where is the tea party  when they are finally needed to yell about the Constitution?

I remember the summer of the tea party with the signs that said (screamed) "DON"T TOUCH MY MEDICARE" and "PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION" and yet the very people they put into office are now fondling their Medicare and cutting their access to the Constitution. And now they are silent.

One of the reasons America broke away from England was to allow "the little guy" to have a fair shake with a large, wealthy, corporation in court. In England the little guy was bound to arbitration, a private justice system administrated by the government with a "loser pays" provision. So, the little guy was always screwed.

Here in Texas the final barriers to abusing mandatory arbitration are falling with bills that will allow mandatory arbitration in home insurance, auto insurance, and TWIA contracts. Texans are now required to accept arbitration in new home contracts, new cars, used cars, credit cards, home repairs and more. Coupled with loser pays, Texas will return to the exact situation that ended in a war and the death of thousands of patriots, the kind that tea party people like to dress up like. It also resulted in the creation of the 7th Amendment to the Constitution.

And yet the tea party says nothing.

Rick Casey of the Houston Chronicle and the Texas Tribune have great articles on this loser of a bill. Luckily the vast majority of the citizens of Texas will never need the 7th Amendment, but when they do, they will realize why our founders created it and how Rick Perry took it away. Small business owners will also realize what a disaster this is. They forget they are "the little guys" too.

So, hip hip, cherrio, my good blokes. Next time you get bounced or have a barney with a home builder, and ya need a legal bobby, just remember  England rules.

Texas House spits on cancer victims

I've written about State Representative Alan Ritter in the past. Calling him two faced is an insult to the truly two faced (and Mike Sullivan). Hopefully he will get teabagged in the primary. Until then he can be proud of spitting on the victims of cancer with his bill to lower the tax rate for chewing tobacco. From the Chronicle:
AUSTIN, Texas — Texas House members have approved a bill to lower a tax
on loose-leaf chewing tobacco like Red Man and others brands despite the
health risks. [it passed the House]
Ritter claims it is a good bill for those that chew tobacco. At least one teabagger in the House questioned this move stating " it will encourage people to "use cancer-causing products"
and lead to more long-term health costs." DUH!

Even a teabagger knows better than Ritter. From the Mayo Clinic:
Your risk of certain types of cancer increases if you use chewing tobacco or other types of smokeless tobacco. This includes esophageal cancer and various types of oral cancer, including cancers of your mouth, throat, cheek, gums, lips and tongue. Surgery to remove cancer from any of these areas can leave your jaw, chin, neck or face disfigured, and the cancer may be life-threatening. You also face increased risks related to pancreatic cancer and kidney cancer.
Real nice Ritter. If you got cancer, you would almost deserve it.

Planned Parenthood by the numbers

I had the opportunity to attend a recent luncheon for Planned Parenthood of Houston and Southeast Texas. In the past it has always been a gathering of intelligent and compassionate women and men, people who could think into the next decade. It was truly a pleasure.

Unfortunately ignorance is extremely powerful especially when the party with the money strings has their own media outlets allowing lies to be told without challenge. The last time the media refused to challenge unsubstantiated claims, our country sent 4400 soldiers to die for a wild goose chase for WMDs. Now they are after Planned Parenthood, and the media is once again silent.

Here are some interesting numbers about Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast.
  • 0. Tax dollars used for abortion services.
  • 95. Percent of services provided by Planned Parenthood for non-abortion services
  • 9. Federal dollars received by Texas for every $1 spent on Planned Parenthood
  • 40,000,000. Dollars saved because of Planned Parenthood
  • 7,347. men served by Planned Parenhood
  • 110,471. Men, women and teens served by Planned Parenthood.
  • 17,489. Pap smears performed for cervical cancer screenings
  • 1,270. Women who received care for abnormal pap tests
  • 104,179. Tests for STDs
  • 23,929. HIV prevention counseling and testing visits
Those who can think past FoxTV will realize that Planned Parenthood provides much needed services for the State of Texas in birth control, Well-women exams, Pap tests, STD testing and treatment, sex education, professional training, breast exams, and even vasectomy services for men.

For others, keep your head buried in the sand and hope you don't get screwed. Literally.

Wayne Dolcefino, of KTRK, picks in the garbage

I like Wayne Dolcefino of KTRK. His investigative reporting is top notch, a model for news media, but last night's airing about the Port of Houston cruise ship terminal had Wayne digging into the trash for commentary.

Wayne's investigative report focused on the empty cruise ship terminal and the cost to taxpayers. Either he couldn't find an elected official to interview, or he has a crush on the Harris County quitter in chief, Paul Bettencourt, the former Tax Assessor/Collector who quit just 2 weeks after being elected. Bettencourt had the same old tired statement about "wasting tax money", as if that wasn't evident in the report.

Wayne's report is a good one to watch. Like a junk yard dog, he has the leg of the Port of Houston and he doesn't seem to want to let go. Expect more on the Port tonight. As for Quittencourt, wasn't he the Tax Assessor when the Port was being expanded and the cruise ship terminal was  being sold to Houston?

He didn't have much to say then.

Without a smirk, without a catchy phrase, without boasting

He didn't have a cute saying like "We're gonna smoke 'em out"  or a smirk on his face while he said "We got em". Instead President Obama simply said:
Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of al Qaeda, and a terrorist who's responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children.
He didn't fly a jet onto a carrier or drape a banner with "Mission Accomplished" over his pedestal. Instead he simply said:
Tonight we give thanks to the countless intelligence and counter terrorism professionals who've worked tirelessly to achieve this outcome. The American people do not see their work nor know their names, but tonight they feel the satisfaction of their work and the result of their pursuit of justice.
We give thanks for the men who carried out this operation, for they exemplify the professionalism, patriotism and unparalleled courage of those who serve our country. And they are part of a generation that has borne the heaviest share of the burden since that September day.
He wasn't flashy. He didn't boast. He didn't act like a tough guy. He gave us information. He gave credit where credit was due. And he simply did his job.

Obama trumps Donald

The best part of this video from the White House Correspondents Dinner is the look on Donald Trump's face when Obama pokes him in the eye.
