Gone fishing.

Over a number of years I conversed with Carlos Guerra, columnist for the San Antonio Express, over email and the phone. It was during the Democratic Convention in Corpus Christi this past summer that I finally got to meet him. (Thank you Stace!) He sat across from me at a great Mexican restaurant that I stumbled upon. He pretty much carried the conversation and everyone was glad he did. I still have the "Do I look illegal?" button he gave me.

For the following months we kept in touch via Facebook. He had been encouraged to consider writing again and what do you know? He did, creating newstaco.com. I hope his staff will continue what Carlos started.

A few years ago my brother took me to Port Aransas for a fishing trip. I have been hooked (ha-ha) ever since. It is fun. It is exciting. And it is peaceful. Carlos passed away yesterday in Port Aransas where he went  fishing.

Sometimes the biggest and best get away. Fish in peace Carlos!
