Houston Votes.

Had an opportunity last night to meet with the volunteers of an organization call Houston Votes as part of Texans Together. (Good company, cheap beer, good food. Great night!) Houston Votes is on track to register 100,000 new voters in Harris County in time for the election in November. To volunteer visit Houstonvotes.org:
Houston Votes, a project of Texans Together, is a nonpartisan voter registration drive in Harris County.  Its goal is to register 100,000 new voters by the October 4th deadline and turn out 50,000 new voters on election day.
Great group of folks at their kickoff event. Thanks to Fred Lewis who founded Texans Together. I have known Fred for a number of years and have been very impressed with his dedication and leadership on many issues affected the citizens of Texas. Very cool individual.
Fred Lewis (Austin) is the founder and President of Texans Together Education Fund, Inc. He has worked as a public interest attorney, non-profit leader, and community organizer for years. Born and raised in Houston, he is a 4th generation Texan.
