Leave it to our republican Harris County Clerk, Beverley Kaufman, who is finally retiring, to screw up once again. www.harrisvotes.org is down. Usually you can browse to harrisvotes.org to find your voting location, but not today. Here is what you will get if you attempt to access harrisvotes.org:
In fact her County website is down too. http://www.cclerk.hctx.net/

Same for the Harris County Tax Assessor Collector website:
www.co.harris.tx.us
Which means you can't access or print precinct maps.
You and I have been through this before - same timing, just before an important election.
greg,
Go away. shew. or shoe. or whatever. Go away. Go play with matt
Just clicked on Kauffman's page, which comes up, but when I clicked on the tab for elections, the web address it tried to access was called harrisvotes.com.--not harrisvotes.org--although that still doesn't change the fact that her link is still broken.
Kauffman's office does not manage their own webserver. They depend on another County department, the Information Technology Department (ITC). ITC has two internet service providers, and one of them failed early Saturday. There is supposed to be redundancy built in, but in this case it was about 30 hours before full functionality was restored. Nobody at the County, in either department, is happy about this. Don't blame Kauffman for the outage, though.
