Raising campaign cash 2008: Stephanie Simmons

Stephanie Simmons was a candidate for State Senator in Texas Senate District 17 running as a so-called "Democrat", but her campaign donations say otherwise.

Simmons raised $273,336.05 within one short month of the election, $201,745 coming from one Political Action Committee and well know right wing, special interest, insurance front group, Texans for Lawsuit Reform. Another $30,000 came from Ron Wilson, a Democratic turncoat and Tom Craddick ass kisser extraordinaire. $10,000 came from Hank DeShazer, owner and president of Cable Lock, $25,000 from Jeff Sandefer in Austin, and $5000 from Preston Marshall.

All in all, 99.4% of all her donations came from 5 individuals/entities. 73% coming from TLR alone. Jeff Sandefer donated $100,000 to Republicans in 2008.

$96.05 came from ActBlue an online fundraising web based organization for Democrats. $145 came from four individuals with the last name of Simmons.

Simmons lost.

So your position now is that a Republican donor cannot find a worthy Democrat to give to? So much for Obama's call for bipartisanship and reaching across the aisle.

Uh...no.

My position is that republicans suck at everything they do.

Even screwing up elections.

This has become the silliest blog. Totally irrelevant. Do you have anything productive or thought provoking to say? Really.. do us all a favor, Dems and Reps alike... find a new hobby, You suck at this one. Blog about fishing or local pubs or how to use the word "dumbass" effectively in a sentence. Politics has left you behind. You now only embarrass yourself and look stupid.

Have a nice day, John.

Just as an observation, it seemed to me that TLR was endorsing both Joan Huffman (R) and Stephanie Simmons (D). Simmons did lose, as you point out.

However, Joan Huffman did win and Chris Bell lost. So, in the end, one of the TLR endorsed candidates won and the trial lawyer endorsed candidate lost. So, just looking at the evidence, it is hard to come to the conclusion that TLR, or Republicans in general, suck at everything they do.

Just my $.02
